Our Story

Guy’s Story:

Guy Taylor is a photographer, photography FX artist, producer, and entrepreneur. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia but lived many years in the United States. He returned to Vancouver in 2011 to meet his long-lost father and relatives. 

Guy started out as a videographer but has now found that his true passion lies in photography. He enjoys shooting Vancouver and surrounding areas on a daily basis, often riding his bike for hours to reach interesting locations. Guy also has a passion for cooking, which influences his interest in food photography. He finds inspiration in his adventures, such as staying in a buddhist monastery, and living with a tribe in the mountains of Hawaii. 

He has many interests beyond photography. He has been training in, and teaching, Brazilian Jiujitsu for many years. Guy is highly dedicated, someone who can conceptualize a project and bring it to completion, which he has done on many endeavours including content production, film production, and film editing. 

Through the lens, Guy takes inspiration from film in his photography style. His main style can be defined as eye-catching, dramatic, and highly artistic. 

Natalia’s Story:

Natalia Valdes-Schatan is a photographer, digital photo retoucher/editor, graphic designer, digital marketer, and entrepreneur. Natalia was born in Santiago, Chile and grew up in Mexico City, Mexico. She moved to Vancouver in 2011 to study and graduated with a BA in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of British Columbia. 

Natalia has had a passion for photography and filmmaking since she was little. At 15 years old she got her first professional camera and has continued to explore photography ever since, using tools ranging from film cameras, Polaroids, iPhones, and professional equipment. 

She is a self-taught graphic designer and enjoys the challenges of branding, logo and website design, and social media management. 

Through the lens, Natalia’s subjects (other than people) are easy-to-miss details in everyday scenes. She enjoys exploring the world, travelling, and capturing moments and perspectives that are not always noticed by others. Her photography and editing styles are minimalist yet impactful, simple yet beautiful, and enhanced but not obvious. 

Girl’s Story:

Girl is a 5 year-old French Bulldog who is playful, curious, and loves to meet new people. She is the primary assistant on shoots to help get people relaxed with her playful, clown-like demeanor. She has been the stand-in model for many test shoots at the Studio and makes cameos every now and then if they let her (mostly for the treats that come after). 

Girl enjoys exploring the city with her parents when they go scout locations, but not when it’s raining. She is the happiest when she is playing with another puppy, getting human food, and when she lands a spot on the couch, because she knows she’s not supposed to be on it.
